With RehabAI@Home, there is a unique public-private partnership between VU Amsterdam, Amsterdam UMC, Hogeschool van Amsterdam, and ROM InWest. The goal is to elevate innovation in rehabilitation care by combining science, artificial intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship, making home rehabilitation more accessible and effective.
Why RehabAI@Home?
Healthcare faces significant challenges: The number of people with chronic conditions is growing from 10.5 million in 2022 to 12 million in 2050. The pressure on healthcare personnel is increasing, while rehabilitation is essential to keep people healthy and independent at home. Innovations in rehabilitation are lagging only 3% of eHealth solutions focus on this, and the use of wearables is low (37%).
RehabAI@Home aims to bridge this gap with user-friendly, affordable, and scalable AI-based solutions.
The approach
With a demand-driven approach and intensive collaboration: 1) Co-creation sessions with patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, and companies to identify needs. 2) Testing innovations in living labs for direct applicability. 3) Focus on impact: better rehabilitation care, lower healthcare costs, and higher quality of life.
